From Sanoviv’s free webcast, “Hormones and Weight Gain”, featuring Dr. Armony on March 1, 2011.
Chronic stress leads to:
- Increase in body production of the hormone cortisol and insulin … Which…
- Increases appetite … Which…
- Increases the risk that you will not choose ideal, healthy nutrition for your body. Instead you reach for high calorie, high fat foods … Which…
- Makes you store more fat … Which…
- Pumps more chemicals to the liver … Which…
- Creates insulin resistance … Which…
- Makes your pancreas secrete more insulin to compensate … Which…
- Makes you hungrier….. Which…
- Continues this vicious cycle and often leads to more inflammation and illness.
What to do:
- Eat better ( inflammation – reducing foods)
- Get some sleep
- Exercise!!
- Nutrients that target inflammation:
- Breathe. Deeply and often. In a way that reduces your stress. Believe that you can live a productive life without chronic stress – and find a way to make that happen.
